After finishing as the second place 4A team in the state this past weekend, six Sandpoint boys soccer players received Inland Empire League honors for their performances this season.

League MVP: Senior, Jett Longanecker

Jett finished the season with 10 goals and 11 assists.

“Jett earned this distinction by committing himself to the game in the past year,” head coach Tanner French said. “His dedication was easily evident this year through leadership and the extra hours of training that nobody notices. I’m proud of his determination this year and look forward to watching him at the next level.”

First Team: Sophomore, Logan McGrann

Logan finished the season two goals and four assists, and was often the Bulldogs’ primary corner kicker.

“Logan showed us last year that age is simply a number,” French said. “The soccer IQ that he possesses is a rare attribute, and his calmness benefited our midfield for a second year. Logan will continue to be a leader through example for this program over the next two years.”

First Team: Senior, Nathan Matt

Nathan led Sandpoint’s defense this season.

“Nate gave us another level of leadership that us coaches can only understand,” French said. “Another individual who understands training beyond the team environment can be beneficial, Nate anchored our mixed backline this year, as a staple of consistency.”

First Team: Sophomore, Kai Longanecker

Kai had a total of 34 saves this season between the posts.

“Arguably the best goalkeeper in the state, Kai has a gift at his position,” French said. “He has withheld strong opposing attacks against the 5A teams in our league, as well as during the state tournament. As only a sophomore, his potential has endless possibilities.”

First Team: Senior, Eoin Eddy

Eoin had a team-high 15 goals this season for the Bulldogs.

“Coming off a Second Team All-State Selection in 2022, Eoin had to increase his level of play, and he did that by scoring in nearly every game,” French said. “An honest and trustworthy young man, Eoin gave us an opportunity to win games through his determination and grit.”

First Team: Junior, Luke Leavitt

Luke had eight goals and four assists this year for Sandpoint.

“A pacey player for us on the wing, Luke was an exciting player for our team,” French said. “He was instrumental for our attack, and also extremely versatile. A great teammate and personality. I’m excited for his senior season.”

Coach of the Year: Tanner French

French lead the Bulldogs to an 11-5 record, defeated 5A conference rival Coeur d’Alene and added another district title to his record. French led a No. 6 ranked Sandpoint team to the 4A state championship game, an impressive feat in itself.
