Robert Evans, 98

Robert J. Evans, 98, passed from this life Oct. 2, 2023, surrounded by three generations of his family.

Robert was born in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, on March 14, 1925.

He joined the Marines and bravely fought in the Pacific Theater of World War II, earning a Purple Heart.

He married Nona Walter in 1946, and they had five children. He lived in the Northwest for most of his life, doing mining, logging, construction, and long-haul trucking. He was an avid fisherman, occasionally doing commercial fishing in Alaska.

He was preceded in passing by his beloved wife of 66 years, Nona Walter Evans; by his daughter, Sharon Evans Swaim; and by his son, David Evans. He is survived by his son, Robert J. Evans II; his son, Mark Evans; his daughter, Suzy Evans; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and his cherished friend, Belva Pierce.
