War is a frequent topic of discussion and reflection. Here are a few more quotes on the subject.

"There never was a good war or a bad peace." — Benjamin Franklin

"Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called, the children of God." — Matthew from the Bible

"You can't say civilization doesn't advance … in every war they kill you a new way." — Will Rogers, an old humorist

"Peace has its victories no less than war, but it doesn't have as many monuments to unveil." — Frank Hubbard

Think about this last one. Whey you drive around the country in certain places you will see monuments to war, statues, plaques and, yes, cemeteries. While stationed in France for 2 1/2 years in the Army, I saw many cemeteries.

American cemeteries have white marble crosses. German cemeteries in France have black iron crosses. All are impressive and somber. One, just outside of Luxembourg has about 5,000 American graves. At the head of it, there is one grave, it is marked George Patton. It doesn't even say general. Probably because he was a soldier's soldier.
