John Michael Bouse, 61, passed away Sunday, Aug. 28, 2023, in Sandpoint, Idaho.

Graveside services will be Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023, at Pack River Cemetery at 11 a.m., followed by a memorial service lunch at the Ponderay Events Center. John’s wish was for his friends and family to get together after his death.

John was born June 4, 1962, in Sandpoint, Idaho, to Gareld and Barbara Weisz Bouse.

For the last year and a half, John fought brain cancer with tremendous courage.

John grew up in Ponderay and attended local schools. He skied at Schweitzer, trapped with his grandpa, and played baseball and football. He was always tossing a ball around. He loved to hunt, and he especially loved to fish. He spent many hours on Lake Pend Oreille and the local creeks. He truly loved the outdoors, his pets, friends, and family.

John was a dedicated employee with an amazing work ethic. He worked for Condon Brothers, Pacific RR Salvage, Gammel & Olendick, and numerous local saw mills. Prior to his illness, he was a lumber grader at Alta Forest Products in Naples, Idaho.

John was preceded in death by his infant son, Matthew Ryan Bouse; and his mother, Barbara Bouse.

John is survived by his son, Mark Bouse; his father, Gareld Bouse; his sisters, Sherry (John) Hobday and Renee (Chris) Gaddis; his aunts, Mary Mitton, Ann Stutzke and Jonalea (Bryan) Hanson; his uncles, John (Jane) Weisz and Dan (Janet) Bouse; nieces and nephews, Sarah (Harry) Velez, Brian (Janina) Hobday, Brenda Gaddis, Nick Gaddis and Caleb (Chey) Gaddis; grandnieces and grandnephews, Mia, Remy, Brayden, Kylie, John, Elizabeth and Bridger; and numerous cousins.

The family would like to thank the staff at Lifecare and BGH Hospice for their love and care for John.

They would also like to thank the crew at Alta Forest Products, special friends Richard Rohrich, George and Robin Rohrich, Chaplain David Fio, and cousins Kent Mitton and Mark Gerber.
