Sandpoint 7, Lakeland 1
SANDPOINT — Senior Crosby Schmidt scored two quick goals, setting the pace for the Bulldogs in their 7-1 victory over Lakeland on Wednesday at War Memorial Field.
Within the first 15 minutes, Schmidt scored off two corner kicks, both assisted by Logan McGrann. Right before the end of the first half, Eoin Eddy scored a goal of his own off a great pass from Fisher Dail, making it 3-0 Bulldogs.
In the second half, it was Jett Longanecker and Huxley Hall who extended the lead for Sandpoint just 10 minutes into the half. Longanecker’s goal was assisted by Hall; Hall’s by Luke Leavitt. Jack Treman and Leavitt scored in the 57th and 60th minute to secure the 7-1 victory for the Bulldogs.
Lakeland’s Hudson Drake scored the Hawks’ lone goal in the 58th minute of the match.
“The first half, we still came out a little timid ... We have to find more feet, and final passes need to be directed away from the goalkeeper,” head coach Tanner French said. "I think we responded well in the next 40 minutes with a different mindset — knowing we can possess while we move forward.”
French said it's nice to watch his players celebrate with a smile on their faces during a big win, and hopes that the Bulldogs (3-1, 3-1) can do much of the same, regardless of the result, in their home match against Lake City today.

Sandpoint 1, Lake City 0
COEUR d’ALENE — Marlee McCrum led the Sandpoint girls soccer team over Lake City, 1-0 at Lake City High School on Wednesday. It was the second time that Sandpoint has defeated Lake City so far this season.
“It was by far the best we’ve played all season,” head coach Conor Baranski said. “We consistently shut down their attacks, built from the back, and worked hard and efficiently for the full 80 minutes.”
Sandpoint’s goal started out with a great save from Lilliana Brinkmeier. After the defense cleared out, the ball ended up at the feet of Bayah Ratigan who played it forward and delivered a beautiful pass to McCrum, who Baranski said finished with class and composure.
Sandpoint (4-2, 3-2) will visit rival Lakeland today.
