Boys Soccer
Lake City 1, Sandpoint 0
SANDPOINT — Lake City’s Beckham Dodge scored the only goal of the game in the first three minutes of play, which helped the Timberwolves defeat Sandpoint 1-0 at War Memorial Field on Thursday.
“We came out extremely timid and flat for the first 40 minutes — losing possession cheaply, which led to tired legs and tired minds as we defended the whole first half,” head coach Tanner French said. “We didn’t make any adjustments at the break other than just giving the boys an opportunity to change the game. I was happy with their effort (in the second half), specifically the efforts of sophomore Issac Scmitt and junior Luke Leavitt.”
Sandpoint’s Kai Longanecker made six saves in goal, and faced a total of 19 shots from Lake City. The Bulldogs were only able to fire one shot throughout the entirety of the game.
Sandpoint (3-2, 3-2) will face Post Falls at home Tuesday, Sept. 12.

“ … Our players were tired after that battle yesterday (against Lake City),” head coach Conor Baranski said. “ Our finishing needs to improve drastically, but it’s another shutout, and we’re at the top of our district.
