Girls Soccer

Ridgeline 3, Sandpoint 0

LIBERTY LAKE — Sandpoint girls soccer was shut out by Ridgeline 3-0 at Ridgeline High School on Monday.

“Simply put, Ridgeline has a roster full of players who are committed to soccer almost 12 months of the year,” head coach Conor Baranski said. “We played well at times, but got punished any time we made a mistake. Their players were clinical and organized.”

The Falcons scored all three of their goals in the first half. In the second half, Sandpoint limited the damage thanks to key saves made by Lilliana Brinkmeier and the Bulldogs defense being more organized, shutting down Ridgeline’s attack. Baranski said he was proud the team held a shutout for the second half.

Sandpoint (5-3, 2-0) will head to Post Falls Wednesday to take on the Trojans.

- Saturday, Sept. 9

Riverside 6, Priest River 0

PRIEST RIVER — The Spartans fell to the Riverside in a non-conference matchup, 6-0 at Priest River Lamanna High School Saturday.

Priest River played with just 10 girls the entire game. Injuries and no available substitutes have been an issue this season, but the girls continue to play hard every game, head coach Christina Leonard said.

Brooklyn Best continues to rack up saves, accumulating 22 against the Rams. Marley Burgess-Duquette, Pavin Coleman, Haley Braae, and Cheyenne Thompson played stellar defense for the Spartans.

Priest River (3-4, 2-1) will travel to Rathdrum to face Lakeland today.

Orofino 3, Priest River 0

OROFINO — The Spartans fell to the Maniacs in their first 2A Central Idaho conference game of the season, 3-0 (10-25, 23-25, 20-25) at Orofino High School Saturday.

Jayda Storro led the Spartans with a season-high six aces, also adding six assists. Desi Humphrey added a team-high five digs and five kills. Aleigha Jensen contributed six blocks on defense.

“Aleigha had an amazing blocking night,” Priest River head coach Katlyn Ward said. “She was all over the net either getting touches or blocking the ball down on them."

The Spartans (1-2, 0-1) will look to get back on track against Genesis Prep Academy today.

Golf

POST FALLS — The Sandpoint golf team saw a handful of personal bests while competing at the Post Falls Invitational at the Prairie Falls Golf Course on Monday. The girls finished in second place, just seven strokes behind Lewiston while the boys took fifth, defeating Moscow by two strokes.
