Sandpoint Trailblazers hustle hard at Herron Hustle
KALISPELL — The Sandpoint Trailblazers cross country mountain biking team had nine athletes podium at the Herron Hustle held Saturday at Herron Park. Around 400 athletes ranging from sixth to 12th grade, from Spokane, Bozeman, Billings and more, competed in the race.
The Trailblazers brought 33 racers to the Herron Hustle, several of which were first time bike racers. All 33 racers finished, and Sandpoint ended up with nine racers on the podium, the most the team has ever had.
The nine Sandpoint athletes who made the podium are as follows: Anselm Dussault, first place in the seventh/eighth grade competitive boys division; Olivia Coffman, third place in the seventh grade girls division; Henry Larson, second place in the eighth grade boys division; Glen Badoux, fourth place in the eighth grade boys division; Cody Warwick, fifth place in the eighth grade boys division; Zoe Honsinger, first place in the eighth grade girls division; Sierra Zuberbuhler, fifth place in eighth grade girls division; Noah Schroder, first place in the JV3 high school boys division; Trent Roberts, fourth place in the JV2 high school boys division.
“Everyone had a blast,” coach Mike Martz said. “It was super fun to see athletes finish their first race ever, to see athletes improve on their time/placement from the last race, and of course to end up with several podium placements.”
The Sandpoint Trailblazers will be back in action Sept. 30 at the Copper Kings Clash in Butte, Mont.
