Community's support has touched our hearts

| September 24, 2023 1:00 AM

My name is Melanie Nitz, and on August 30 at 1 a.m., we lost our home to a fire in the Garfield Bay area. My daughter, Baylie, and my grandson, Oakley, were home at the time. Thank God, they and the dogs got out unharmed.

Since the fire, there has been so much love sent our way, and I would like to thank everyone who reached out and took their time to show their support in this most devastating time.

Some of those that I would like to thank are number one, my mom, for the house; the many firefighters who were there and doing their best; Kraig Clark and Baylie Nitz, who had a hose going until the pump failed; Victor Jacobson, who is providing a place for my horses; and Lee and Dave Randall for getting all my neighbors together for a beautiful pizza party in honor of supporting our loss. Also, thank you to Newman Community Bible Church for your contribution. Kaitlin and Jeremiah, Coral, Cathy, and Greg Christians; Tom and Nan Brothers;

Houske's at Bottle Bay Resort, Lisa, and many anonymous people for the gift cards. I would also like to thank everyone for the clothes and baby essentials for Baylie, Oakley, and me and the donations given to our GoFundMe account, which includes Isaiah Rindge, Steven Newman, Alexander Bonetto, Zachary Koback, Sabrina Davis, Margaret Robinson, Eric Burk, Florence Quinn, Lori Seaver, Mary Anderson, Kim Carter, Cindy Gillick, Isabella Bella, Harmony Hendershott, Holly Raymond, Kim Green, Kristi Johnson, Danya Heaton, John Hastings, Meredith Bateman, Michele Ortiz, Lorna Proctor, Kindle Finnerty, Kristi Bergevin, Allen Teague, Sandra Arps, Alicia Thole, Joel Riner, Brianna Samsel, Angie Thomason, Kaylee Pierce, and Jeff Jennings.

Thank you to my son, Reece, my sister, Randi, and my mom for a place to stay.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

You have all touched our hearts and made this tragedy a little more bearable.

MELANIE NITZ
