'A Taste of Garlic' happening this Saturday
PRIEST RIVER — Vampires beware — garlic and fun will abound at a unique event hosted by Snow Valley Garlic this weekend.
“A Taste of Garlic” is a two-day event that will feature vendors and garlic tastings from plants grown at the local farm.
Open to the public since 2019, Snow Valley Garlic operates from April until November. They grow around 28 different varieties of garlic from around the world.
“Most people don’t know there are so many varieties of garlic," owner Nina Messner said. “We only grow about a quarter of what’s offered with what we can grow up here.”
During the event, guests will have the option to taste a selection of garlic.
“People come through a line and we usually have about six varieties to taste,” she said. “It’s pretty fun.”
Messner said the event is usually very successful and garlic enthusiasts from around the world often attend.
“The line goes out the door for over two hours,” she said.
Various local vendors will be providing food items like garlic ice cream and corn on the cob with garlic butter sauce. Selle Valley Creamery, a chef from Coeur d’Alene, Barrel 33, and a handful of local artisans are expected to be present.
The event will be held at 1007 Snow Valley Rd, Priest River, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
