Unlimited Schweitzer visits for Ikon Pass holders this winter

Many new and exciting things are happening at Schweitzer this year, and some are saying the biggest change was just announced a few weeks ago.

Starting this winter, Ikon Pass holders will now have unlimited access to the mountain all season long. Public relations manager Taylor Prather said that while Schweitzer has been an Ikon Pass partner for the past two seasons, the decision to make visits unlimited came after the mountain was purchased by Alterra Mountain Company earlier this year.

“This transition from seven-day access to unlimited on the Ikon Pass is somewhat of a standard practice as currently Alterra-owned resorts are unlimited, with the exception of Crystal in Washington,” she said.

Prather said this change will only apply to regular Ikon Pass users. The standard five-day access remains the same for Ikon Base Pass holders.

Despite this major change for Schweitzer’s 2023-24 ski season, Prather said the resort does not anticipate major changes to traffic, lift wait times or overall congestion on the hill — something locals may have dreaded following the announcement.

“Ikon Pass visitors make up a smaller percentage of Schweitzer’s overall visitation, and we are not expecting much change this coming winter season,” she said. “Looking ahead, we believe the addition of Schweitzer Creek Village will continue to help alleviate any weekend parking challenges come winter 2024-25.”
