PREP SOCCER: Sandpoint girls suffer non-conference loss to Mead

Mead 3, Sandpoint 0
SPOKANE — Sandpoint fell to Mead, 3-0 Friday in its last non-conference game of the season at Mead High School.
It was the first loss the girls suffered since Sept. 11 when the Bulldogs were defeated by Ridgeline.
“We’re still in rough shape between illness and injuries,” head coach Conor Baranski said. “Between that and three games in four days, a GSL (Greater Spokane League) school is always going to be a tough matchup.”
All of Mead’s goals were from set plays, plays that occur during a stoppage or dead ball, which meant the team wasn’t necessarily getting beat defensively rather Mead was able to really capitalize on its limited opportunities.
“Our players showed grit, which is exactly what we hope for in these circumstances,” Baranski said.
Sandpoint (7-4-3) will face off against Lake City at home for their regular season finale Tuesday. The Bulldogs have defeated Lake City twice so far this year and will look to complete a historic sweep of the Timberwolves.
