May honored by BGH Volunteer Council

| April 3, 2024 1:00 AM

Bonner General Health Volunteer Council recently named Sherry May as the group's Volunteer of the Year.

May works in patient registration at Bonner General, joining the volunteer group in 2010. She is an integral part of special events and has been especially outstanding with fundraising. During a recent fundraiser for education funding, she was the volunteer who sold the most tickets for the raffle drawing.

May is always available to help with the Volunteer Council bake sale, scrub sale, Parade of Trees, and luncheon events. She is always thinking of others and often decorates the volunteers’ lobby desk with flowers, officials said.

Volunteer Council volunteers help in various departments of the hospital, including the Cancer Center, lobby desk, same day surgery department, Emergency Room, patient billing and the hospital's pharmacy. In addition, council members help with administrative tasks such as creating packets, filing, printing/copying, answering phones, escorting patients, and helping BGH with those special extras.

Council members typically volunteer at least 74 hours per year and junior volunteers often donate at least 50 hours per year.

"Accumulating over 150 hours, Sherry continues to be a vital part of the volunteer group. Congratulations, Sherry May, and thank you," BGH officials said.
