SANDPOINT — The upcoming Funky Junk Antique and Craft Show is a chance to “forage for treasure.”

The event began 17 years ago as a way to bring vintage and artistic vendors together for a weekend of treasure hunting, food and music to celebrate all things vintage and handmade, Jennifer Wood, Funky Junk creator and owner, said. Now Funky Junk is rated Idaho’s largest and longest running antique and craft festival.

“In those years we have set up in a variety of venues in Spokane and Sandpoint — always once a year here in Sandpoint — but made the Bonner County Fairgrounds our permanent home in 2015,” Wood said.

Throughout past seasons, Wood said the gathering has grown and adapted to changing styles and trends, seeing everything from retro and rustic, to shabby chic, farmhouse and mid-century modern.

“My husband and I work hard to create an environment that replicates the poster and theme for each years’ show, transforming the fairgrounds from everything from a logging camp, silver mine, lookout tour to hidden cottage in the woods, so this year’s theme ‘foraging for treasure’ will be sure to delight,” Wood said.

The show will also include unique food options, drinks, and live music. The “Garden Gnome Cafe” will be serving up fresh dishes while Honeybee Coffee will return with drinks.

Saturday’s live music will be provided by local artist Bridges Home, while Sunday’s will be provided by Dirk Schwartz.

Vendors will range from vintage dealers, artists and collectors in the region, chippy paint and garden textures, clothing, textiles, jewelry, pottery and barn finds.

The show will be held April 13 and 14 at the Bonner County Fairgrounds from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. Admission is $8 and covers the whole weekend. Kids 12 and under will be admitted at no charge. Parking is free.
