Cherie Cherry, 88

Cherie Deon Cherry, 88, passed away Friday, Nov. 10, 2023, in Sandpoint, Idaho. Services will be held at First Baptist Church, 1230 Michigan St., at 1 p.m. June 8, 2024.

Cherie was born April 6, 1935, in San Diego, Calif., to Leo and Elizabeth Guichard. After high school, she attended San Diego State University. She was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. Cherie also attended the University of Southern California, where she earned her BS in Dental Hygiene in 1956. 

Cherie married James Cherry on Sept. 7, 1957 in San Diego. They lived in La Mesa, where Cherie worked as a dental hygienist for Dr. William Sunderman and Dr. Tom Olinger. She retired to Sandpoint in 2001.

She was a member of the Dental Hygiene Association, and attended First Baptist Church in Sandpoint and Scott Memorial Baptist Church in San Diego. She Loved Jesus and wanted everyone she knew to personally know her Savior whom she so deeply loved. She often would share her love of Jesus with her patients while she cleaned their teeth. She made her home a welcoming safe haven to everyone and would encourage you with prayer and an uplifting word from Scripture. Her smile and laughter will be deeply missed by everyone who ever had the chance to meet her.

She is survived by two sons; her adopted son, Mark, and his wife, Janet Cherry of Sagle, Idaho, and Chris and his wife, Kristen Cherry, of Emmett, Idaho, nine grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and her brother, Michel Guichard, and sister-in-law Lynn of Lexington, S.C. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Jim Cherry.
