PREP SOFTBALL: Sandpoint swept by Lake City

SANDPOINT — Sandpoint’s Cadence Skibitsky and Teagan Newsom both had two hits each as the Bulldogs fell to Lake City 20-5 and 15-0 at Ramsey Field on Tuesday.

In Game 1, the Bulldogs got an RBI double from Skibitsky and a two-run single from Bailey Lancaster in the third inning to pull within two runs, 6-4. Between the third and fourth however, Lake City scored 14 of the next 15 runs to capture the victory. Sandpoint’s fifth run came from Baylie Hindle, who hit an RBI triple to deep left field in the fourth.

Skibitsky finished the first game a perfect 2-for-2 with a double and a single.

In Game 2, the Bulldogs were only able to muster up one hit, which came from Newsom in the top of second. Newsom also stole two bases for Sandpoint. Overall, she went a combined 2-for-3 on the day with two singles.

Sandpoint (3-7) will hit the road Friday for a doubleheader against Post Falls.
