Five taking part in DYW Priest River
Later this month, five outstanding Priest River Lamanna High School junior girls will take part in the Distinguished Young Women of Sandpoint scholarship program.
Part of the Class of 2025, participants in the 2024 DYW Priest River program are Kaelyn Brown, Lillian Clifton, Hadassah Davis, Hannah Leitch, and Alyssa Schulze.
Distinguished Young Women of Priest River will be held April 27 at Priest River Junior High School. The program will begin at 6 p.m. with the doors opening at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door.
Distinguished Young Women is part of a national scholarship program that positively impacts the lives of young women by providing a transformative experience that promotes and rewards scholarship, leadership and talent.
Each Distinguished Young Women program evaluates participants in the following categories: Scholastics, 25% of the overall score; interview, 25% of the overall score; talent, 20% of the overall score; fitness, 15% of the overall score; and self-expression, 15% of the overall score.
Kaelyn Brown is a Priest River resident who plans to attend North Idaho College or LSU with the career goal of being a psychiatric nurse. For her talent, she will be playing the piano and singing.
Lillian Clifton is a Blanchard resident who plans to attend Lewis Clark State College with the career goal of being a nurse. For her talent, she will be reading a poem.
Hadassah Davis is a Priest River resident with plans to attend the Paul Mitchell School to further her goal of being an aesthetician. For her talent, she will do hair styling.
Hannah Leitch is an Oldtown resident. She has not yet decided what she would like to do after high school or for a career. Her talent is not yet listed.
Alyssa Schulze is a Priest River resident. She has not yet decided what she would like to do after high school or for a career. Her talent is not yet listed.
The young woman selected will take over from Cheyenne Thompson, DYW Priest River for 2024. Thompson is a member of the National Honor Society and has earned high honor roll distinction.
