BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. — Sandpoint’s Owen Miller led all area snowboarders, finishing fourth in the U15 men’s division after a clear run at the International FreeSkiing Association's Junior Freeride Championship last weekend.

Miller’s fourth place finish added to his season-long points total, putting him in second place for the 2024 IFSA Junior season.

Three other members of Team Snowboard Northwest — Max Taylor (Hayden), Drew Falcone (Spokane), and Madison Hall (Sandpoint) — also qualified and competed at the junior freeride championship event, which hosts 350 elite ski and snowboard junior athletes from the U.S., Canada, and South America year-over-year.

Taylor and Falcone finished 17th and 19th, respectively, in the U19 men’s division. Hall finished ninth in the U19 women’s division after she committed to a challenging line, cleared a big rock, but couldn’t quite stick the landing. In her effort and spirit of ‘going for it’ Hall earned the Flyin' Ryan Hawks Foundation Award.

Overall, in regards to season point totals, Hall finished sixth, Taylor finished 11th, and Falcone 21st in their respective age divisions.

The freeride junior championships, which rotates locations and culminates the freeride season, was held at Breckenridge Ski Resort this year. The resort is known for its high alpine terrain and exceptional late season snow which made it the perfect stage for this year’s top tier freeride competitors.
