| April 20, 2024 1:00 AM

SANDPOINT — Want to know more about how to be more self-sufficient and prepared in case of an emergency?

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is putting on an Emergency Preparedness Fair to inform people about how to be ready in case a disaster happens.

On Saturday, May 4, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., multiple classes will be taught regarding food preservation, emergency solar backup, water sanitation, gardening, permaculture and how disasters affect North Idaho. At the end of the day, a nuclear fallout and electromagnetic pulse discussion will be held.

Additionally, multiple booths will be available throughout the day providing more information on a number of topics. Food storage, freeze drying, survival skills, emergency and radio communications, solar backups, and more will be presented at booths during the fair.

7B CARES and Bonner County Amateur Radio Emergency Services will also have booths at the fair, connecting people with various resources.

All are welcome to attend this free event, which is being held at the church at 602 Schweitzer Cutoff Road in Sandpoint.
