PREP ROUNDUP: Sandpoint softball, baseball swept by Moscow

BASEBALL

SANDPOINT — Sandpoint junior Jesse Turner compiled a single, a double, and a stolen base in game one as the Bulldogs fell to Moscow 5-1 and 8-1 at War Memorial Field on Monday.

Lucas Hansen was the only other Bulldog to knock a hit in the first game. Moscow's Levi Anderson struck out 14 batters on the mound. 

In the second game, Sandpoint's continued to struggle at the plate, getting just two hits from Brent Campbell and Parker Reichart. Campbell hit an RBI single in the bottom of the second, the Bulldogs' only RBI over the course of the doubleheader. On the mound, Sage Medeiros pitched well, but Sandpoint's defense had three errors behind him. The right-handed sophomore pitched 5 2/3 innings, giving up eight hits, one earned run and one walk while striking out three batters.

Sandpoint (6-11) will host Lakeland for a doubleheader Friday.

SOFTBALL

MOSCOW — Sandpoint’s Cadence Skibitsky and Peyton Cessna had two hits each as the Bulldogs fell to Moscow 10-0 and 16-6 on the road Monday.

After getting just two hits in the first game, the Bulldogs came to life in the second game. In the first inning, Kaylee McCown and Cessna hit RBI singles to start things off. Sandpoint would score three more runs on a series of errors in the second, but the Bears took control with an eight-spot in the bottom half of the inning, eventually securing the victory. 

Sandpoint (3-15) travels to Coeur d'Alene on today for a doubleheader.
