Harold Smith, 84

Harold Woodrow Smith, aged 84, passed away April 7, 2024, in Laughlin, Nev.

He was born Sept. 4, 1939, in Lepanto, Ark. Harold, known for his true entrepreneurial spirit, lived a life full of adventures and experiences.

Having served in the Army at Fort Bragg for three years, Harold's dedication and commitment to his country were unwavering. After his military service, he married and had two children Heidi and Paul. He met his second wife, Susan, in 1980 and together they embarked on a successful career as business owners which started in Phoenix, Ariz., and from there moved to the Ponderay-Sandpoint, Idaho, area. Harold's adventures included Hawn-Smith Glassblowing, The Incredible Christmas Stores, Slates Restaurant and Billiards, and later Mobile Event Photo in his "retirement." These endeavors were shared with his beloved wife Susan, with whom he cherished their many wonderful experiences.

Survived by his wife, Susan, children Heidi Gillespie and Paul Smith from a previous marriage, brother John (Lora) Smith, sisters Betty (Dale) Jewell, Joane (Gary) Robinson, Sandy Schwenk, as well as numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, Harold leaves behind a legacy of love and hard work. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Pauline Smith, and brother-in-law Gibb Schwenk.

Harold's vibrant personality and zest for life were evident in his constant pursuit of new opportunities and his boundless energy. He enjoyed learning about both the new and the old, always seeking to expand his horizons. He expressed regret that time passed so swiftly, as there was still so much more he wished to accomplish and explore.

In honor of Harold, contributions can be made to Toys for Tots and the food bank. Davis Funeral Home in Las Vegas, Nev., is assisting with the arrangements and as per Harold's request, there will be no services.

May Harold Woodrow Smith's legacy of determination, curiosity, and love for life forever inspire those who knew him. Because Harold knew Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior we have the assurance and joy of knowing we will see him in Heaven.
