PREP TRACK & FIELD: Sandpoint’s Klein Fragoso breaks school pole vault record … again

SPIRIT LAKE — Klein Fragoso placed first and cleared 14 feet and 9 inches in the pole vault, Paul Kent won the 1 mile (4:34.42), and Van Lee, Ryder Haynes, Trey Blumenberg, and Isaac Schmit won the 4x200 relay (1:34.93) as the Bulldogs clinched eight individual titles at the Timberlake Invitational on Friday.

Fragoso beat his own school record that he set last week by one and a half inches; he now leads Idaho’s 4A classification by nine inches. Also hitting big milestones were Nathan Roche and Daniel Ricks, who finished third and fourth in the 800 after breaking the two-minute barrier. Priest River’s Carter Korff won the long jump with a new season record of 20 feet and 5 inches.

For the girls, Sandpoint picked up four individual wins. The girls 4x200 relay consisting of Elia Howard, Bailey Majors, Ani Vick, and Noah Roark won in 1:49.09. Vick also won the 300 hurdles with a new personal best time of 47.83 seconds. Gracie Amick (long jump), Ivy Smith (shot put), and Izzy Davidson (pole vault) also took home titles.

Clark Fork’s Dillon Ryan-Downing (100 and 200) and Olivia Yetter (100 hurdles and 300 hurdles) also finished among the top five in multiple events for the Wampus Cats.

Sandpoint will be back in action today at the Walla Walla Legends Meet, Priest River at Barry Sartz Relays in Newport. Clark Fork will prepare for the North Star League Meet on Tuesday.
