Terry Raikes

Terry Elwin Raikes passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 23, 2024, after a courageous fight with pancreatic cancer.

Terry was born Feb 27, 1954, in Santa Monica, Calif., to Evelyn and Bill Raikes. He was second to the youngest of seven siblings.

Terry graduated from trade school in Eugene, Ore. He began his engineering career at Hughes Aircraft in California. In 1978, he moved to Santa Rosa, Calif., where he spent the next 37 years working in the engineering field. He met the love of his life, Luanne, in 1980. They were married a year later. Over the course of those 37 years, they raised two children, Amanda and Matthew. 

Terry loved the outdoors and waterskiing. In 2015 he convinced his wife to move to Sandpoint, Idaho, to be near his family and the beautiful area of Sandpoint. He spent the next nine years loving the lake and mountains he called home. He loved being out on the lake and would frequently say, “Hey, we live here!”

Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Evelyn and Bill Raikes; and his sister, Barbara Raikes. He is survived by his loving wife, Luanne Raikes; daughter Amanda Raikes; son Matthew Raikes; daughter-in-law Brynnley Raikes; and four beautiful grandchildren (Adelynn, Elliot, Wesley and Lennon), and sisters Suzie Ross and Patty McLaughlin (Dan McLaughlin); and brothers Bill, John and Ken Raikes.

In lieu of flowers please donate to your local cancer center in Terry’s honor. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
