Cynthia (Calkins) Tylman, 67

Cynthia was born in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, on April 13, 1956, and passed away in Boise, Idaho, on Dec. 20, 2023.

She spent most of her childhood in Sandpoint, Idaho, and graduated from SHS in 1974. She was a skilled musician who played piano and flute. She graduated from the University of Idaho in 1978 with a degree in marketing. She moved to San Antonio, Texas, and began her career in business working for Joske’s department store as a buyer for their women’s wear division. She had a great design aesthetic which showed in her personal fashion sense and in her lovely homes.

She was married to Jim Foster for 16 years and later married Jerry Tylman. Throughout her life, she was able to travel, including visits to Australia, China, Ireland, Scotland, Iceland, Italy, plus many U.S. destinations including Alaska and Hawaii. She had many feline companions throughout her life, all of whom she treated like royalty. She was a fun, generous person who loved to entertain friends and family and decorated her homes, inside and out, for every holiday. For many years, she loved everything flamingo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Jean Calkins; her husband, Jerry; and her youngest brother, Wendell Calkins. She is survived by her sister, Jennifer (Calkins) Anderson; and her brother, Mark Calkins.
