Susan Wentz, 67

Susan Wingate Wentz, 67, passed away Friday, July 26, 2024, at her home in Sagle, Idaho.

Private family services have been held.

Susan was born June 16, 1957, on Wiesbaden Air Force Base Germany to Warren and Virginia Hendrix. She grew up in Myrtle Beach, S.C., Millersville, Pa., and Severna Park, Md., where she graduated from high school.

Susan was an amazing multi-talented dynamo of a woman. She was a well-known, talented actress with Colonial Players in Annapolis, Md.; the BlackBox Theater in Miami, Fla.; and Ashay Theater in New Orleans, La. She performed in the national touring show, “Swimming Upstream.” She was also an entrepreneur, operating several successful restaurants across the nation. Café Normandy in Annapolis, Md., Café Normandy Catering in Washington, D.C., and Europa in Severna Park, Md. Susan and her daughter Lilly worked together to establish the restaurant Coquette in New Orleans, La., which won Best Restaurant, Best Chef, and Best Dish from Bon Appetite magazine in 2014.

Susan married George Wentz on March 7, 1997. They lived in Centerville, Md.; Miami, Fla.; New Orleans, La.; and then moved to Sandpoint, Idaho, in 2010. 

In Sandpoint she started Grace and Joy Clothing Company on Cedar Street. Susan became a well-known YouTube star on her daughter’s channel, Lilly’s Life, where her videos received over 80 million views. 

She enjoyed traveling, cooking, making perfume and candles. She is survived by her husband George Wentz of Sagle, Idaho; four daughters and one son, Marcie Wingate of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, Lillian Hubbard of Koh Sumui, Thailand, Kathy Warrick of Merritt Island, Fla., Chloe Hubbard of Sandpoint, and Rob Wentz of Nashville, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren, Kaydance, Kamille, K.J., Ari, Alexa, Luke, Leon, Layla Rose, Hendrix, and Charlotte. She is also survived by her sister, Beverly Folmer of Chesapeake Beach, Md.; and her brother, Stan Hendrix of Redondo Beach, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Greg Hendrix.
