Aug. 13, 1974 – BGH SERVICE AWARDS

Mrs. Phoebe Senft led the Bonner General Hospital annual service award program Thursday, assisted by Ruth Schauer. Elsa Wormington poured coffee. Bernie Harris, medical-surgical supervisor, received her 15-year pin. Ten-year pins went to Ann Berger, scrub nurse; Marian Graves, kitchen worker; and Gerda Lundblad, in maternity. Five-year pins were given to Lola Christensen, central services; Linda Dillon, LPN from the first class taught here; Jessie Dawson, purchasing agent; and Kathie Lund, another LPN from the local class. A surprise was a five-year “tie tac” pin for Manager James Breinich.

SEPTEMBER WEDDING PLANNED

A September wedding in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, is planned by Miss Denise M. Pinsonneault, daughter of Patricia Pinsonneault and George Pinsonneault, Sandpoint, and James R. Dickison, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Dickison, Bonners Ferry. Miss Pinsonneault, a 1971 SHS graduate, has been employed by United Airlines. Mr. Dickison graduated from Bonners Ferry High School and the U of I. He served two years in the Air Force and is currently a forester for Louisiana-Pacific Corp., Moyie Springs.

FRANK SCHILLING AT FT. LEWIS

Army Private Frank A. Schilling, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank D. Schilling, arrived at Ft. Lewis, Wash., under the Army’s unit of choice enlistment program. Pvt. Schilling will work as an engineer specialist in Company D of the 15th engineers battalion, and is guaranteed at least 16 months duty with the unit.

Aug. 13, 1949 – CAB STAND MOVED

The Independent Cab company has moved its office and stand to the Phillips 66 Service station at the corner of Cedar and First avenue. They plan to furnish a comfortable lounge and waiting room.

TEN GET LIFE SAVING BADGES

Earning Red Cross life saving badges at the city bathing beach under lifeguard Ben Laster were: Junior course - Douglas Schedler, Jack Kester, Fritz Holz, Gordon Roberts, Tom McClellan, Gary Pietsch and Irene West; Senior course - Bill Lewis, James Gunby and John Gillis.

McFADDEN MANAGES MOTEL AND STATION

T.J. McFadden, formerly with the Farmers Union Cooperative Creamery, took over management of the H. Earl Clack service station and 11-unit motel at Fifth and Larch. Mr. McFadden plans several improvements for the motel units and the grounds.

THE STEAK HOUSE TO OPEN THURSDAY

“The Steak House,” formerly Delducco’s, will have its official opening Thursday. The restaurant, on Main opposite city hall, was purchased this week by two Spokane couples, Mr. and Mrs. Vern Campbell and Mr. and Mrs. Ted Alexander. The Steak House will be open daily from 5 o’clock a.m. until midnight.
