Highway 31 yard sale set for Sept. 7-8
Area residents are preparing for next month's Highway 31 yard sale in northern Pend Oreille County, Wash.
The community-wide yard sale, which is set for Sept. 7-8, will start at Highway 31 milepost 0 — the Tiger Historical Center — and continue through Ione, Metaline, Metaline Falls, and up toward the Canadian border. The continuous yard sale will begin at 10 a.m. and end at 4 p.m. on both Sept. 7 and Sept. 8, although the individual stops may set different hours or choose to only sell on one of the days.
Organizers said the sky is the limit on what a shopper might find with 30 miles of state highway to traverse.
"While traveling, they are invited to take in one of the many sites along the way from the many trails to viewing points," Sonya Scauflaire, board secretary for Innovative Ione, said in a press release about the event. "Visit the local eating establishments or one of the food vendors along the route to fortify yourself for an entire weekend of scoring new treasures."
A map will be available with a list of the yard sale locations and a description of what is being sold. Anyone who wishes to be added to the list and benefit from added publicity driving foot traffic can visit bit.ly/hwy31ys24. There is no cost associated with being listed.
Special arrangements for the weekend include the Ione Saturday Market setting up for both days next to Highway 31 Grind in Ione, Washington (instead of only for Saturday morning) and The Cutter Theatre will have their Cutter Clutter, a summer-long fundraiser, going all weekend at 302 Park Street in Metaline Falls.
