Newport Hospital and Health Services Foundation recently Newport Community Hospital’s Obstetrics Department with two new MIC Panda iRes Warmers.

The donation, valued at over $46,000, provides the department with improved care for newborns delivered at the hospital. Features of the warmers include easier access to baby to provide care; compact size; integrated scale; color display; built-in medical air, oxygen, and suction; and hands-free alarm silence.

“The design of the new warmers is more user-friendly, sleeker, and easier to move," obstetrics coordinator Erin Miller, RN, BSN, said. "It allows us to provide safer, best-practice care with improved technology.”

Miller said one warmer is stationed in the operating room and the other will remain in the Family Birth Center. The previous warmer is still in service and will be used only for backup.

This donation marks the Foundation’s ongoing support for the hospital’s obstetrics unit since reopening services in June of 2023. Since 2023, NHHS Foundation has provided over $80,000 in direct support of equipment purchases, new furniture, and other physical improvements to labor and delivery rooms.

“The Foundation Board is committed to supporting the needs and strategic mission of the District to service our community with integrity and exceptional quality care. This includes the continued commitment to offering exceptional maternity services locally,” said Merry-Ann Keane, CEO and foundation president.
