PREP GOLF: Tuinstra takes home medalist honors at The Highlands
SANDPOINT — Senior Alexa Tuinstra finished with an impressive even par 73, medaling for the second straight outing, and the Sandpoint girls’ golf team finished second at an invitational at The Highlands Golf Course in Post Falls on Tuesday.
Senior Taylor Mire finished third overall for the Lady Bulldogs with a score of 77. Senior Claire Loutzenhiser carded a 91, senior Raegan Samuels a 93 to give Sandpoint a total score of 334, just 12 strokes behind the Lady Vikings of Coeur d’Alene. Demi Driggs rounded out the Bulldogs’ top five with a score of 94.
On the boys side, Jacob Aexel carded a team-best 12-over-par 84 in his senior season debut. Junior Tyler Weisz shot an 87, junior Logan McGrann a 91, and junior Cooper Zimmerman a 92 as the Bulldogs finished fifth with a total score of 354, 13 strokes ahead of Lakeland. Senior Aidan Rork carded a 93 for Sandpoint in the No. 5 spot.
Sandpoint will be back in action Thursday, Aug. 29, at the Coeur d’Alene Public Golf Course.
