Proposition 1: A plan to trash your vote
Idaho voters need to understand the truth about ranked choice voting (identified as Proposition 1 on the ballot in November).
Proposition 1 reduces the likelihood that your candidate of choice will be elected. To describe an overly complex voting system in simple terms:
Imagine 100 people vote in an election.
Ninety-nine those people rank Jane Doe as their candidate of first choice.
100 people rank John Smith as their fourth and last choice candidate.
Guess who is elected? John Smith.
Making matters worse, often, people only select their first-choice candidates on the ballot in an effort to demonstrate they don’t support the other candidates. As a result, their ballots are thrown out.
Each candidate must be ranked or the ballot is invalid.
Proposition 1 will enable candidates who don’t reflect your interests to be elected.
Vote no to Proposition 1 this November.
