BOCC approves waste collection contract
SANDPOINT — Bonner County commissioners met Tuesday to work through a short agenda. The officials voted unanimously to approve a five-year contract with Waste Management of Idaho for rural solid waste collection and disposal.
Under the agreement, Bonner County will pay the contractor $47,735 per month, with the additional per-ton fees of $11.01 for transfer station operation and $95.78 for transportation and disposal.
Solid Waste Director Bob Howard told the commissioners that the new contract, which will go into effect Oct. 1, is 2.72% higher in cost than the existing agreement.
The commissioners also heard from Dave Schuck, airports manager for the Bonner County Airport Advisory Board.
Schuck reported that the terms of three members of the board, one of whom being Schuck, had expired; all three wished to be reappointed for an additional three-year term. The commissioners voted unanimously to extend their service.
The commissioners also approved two confidential invoices from Sheriff Daryl Wheeler totaling $79,840.
The BOCC’s next regular meeting will take place at the Bonner County Administration Building, 1500 U.S. 2, at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27.
