Robert Thomas Sawhill, 97
Robert (Bob) Thomas Sawhill, 97, of Sandpoint, Idaho, passed away peacefully in his home Aug. 3, 2024.
He was born April 28, 1927, the son of Agie and Opal Sawhill in Vona, Colo.
Bob married Aletha Mae Knudsen on Jan. 1, 1950, at the First Lutheran Church in Sandpoint. They were lifelong members of the church.
Bob worked at Pack River Lumber Company for 40 years; he was a volunteer firefighter for 23 years and he donated blood often. He was an avid rockhound, always collecting and polishing rocks. He loved to garden, tend to his yard, and take care of the house he and Aletha built and lived in.
Bob and Aletha had five children, Sharon, Stanley (Gloria), Carolyn (John), Janet and Larry. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by daughter Sharon, son Larry, grandson Brian, and Aletha, who passed away shortly after their 73rd anniversary.
Bob lived a full, exciting life, and is greatly missed. He loved his church, and his Lord and Savior.
Memorial services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, in the First Lutheran Church, of Sandpoint. Pastor Duane J. Fister will be officiating.
