Entering its 20th season of broadcasting Idaho high school sporting events, IdahoSports.com has announced that it will add a new feature to its schedule of football broadcasts this fall.

For the first time, IdahoSports.com will produce and broadcast a statewide “Gem State Game of the Week.” The broadcasts will feature multiple camera angles, enhanced graphics, and detailed storylines and commentary from Idaho’s best group of sportscasters.

“A statewide Game of the Week is something we have been talking about for a long time,” IdahoSports.com General Manager Paul Kingsbury said. “To see it become a reality is very exciting for all of us.”

Kingsbury added, “Our goal has always been to promote high school sports in Idaho and the athletes that play them. The Gem State Game of the Week is another step in our ongoing growth and evolution. It’s going to be a lot of fun for everyone.”

The early season “Gem State Game of the Week” schedule features 15 Idaho schools from all six districts across six weeks of action.

The debut broadcast of IdahoSports.com’s “Gem State Game of the Week” is a rematch from last year’s 1A Division 1 (now 2A) semifinals, as defending state champion Butte County will meet Logos in a neutral-site game at Homedale High on Saturday, Aug. 24, at 4 p.m.

That debut broadcast will be followed by the 17th annual Rocky Mountain Rumble at Idaho State University’s ICCU Dome on Aug. 30 and 31. This year’s lineup features seven Idaho squads (Coeur d’Alene, Highland, Kimberly, Mountain View, Rigby, Skyline, and Teton) battling seven out-of-state opponents from Alaska, California, Nevada and Utah.

Another eight-man neutral-site game will be featured Sept. 6 when Prairie and Valley meet at Fruitland High.

That’s followed by a special day of broadcasts Friday, Sept. 13. IdahoSports.com will once again provide live coverage of the Tiger-Grizz Cross Country Invitational at Freeman Park in Idaho Falls, followed by a monumental clash between reigning 4A (now 5A) champion Bishop Kelly and Rigby.

September 20th brings another neutral site showdown between 3A powers Declo and Firth at the ICCU Dome in Pocatello. The Hornets and Cougars have combined to appear in 10 of the last 13 state championship games at the 3A (previously 2A) level.

The early season “Gem State Game of the Week” schedule concludes with the 60th edition of the Emotion Bowl between Idaho Falls and Skyline.
