Local competitor places in Montana State Outdoor Smallbore Championships
Alora Rasor of the Sandpoint Junior Rifle Club picked up two first places finishes and three third place finishes at the Montana State Outdoor Smallbore Championships held Aug. 17 to 18 at the Hellgate Rifle Club in Missoula.
Using a .22 caliber single-shot rifle with open sights, Rasor completed two different matches. The first match was shot at 50 meters, with 40 shots in each the standing, kneeling, and prone positions. Rasor, competing at same course of fire that is shot at the Olympics, took first in the junior division in the kneeling and prone positions.
The next match was all prone for 160 shots in total. Shooting at the distances of 100 yards, 50 yards and 50 meters, Rasor was again impressive, placing third at all three distances in the junior division.
