Barbara Argabrite, 92
Barbara Ann (Lauck) Argabrite, 92, went home to be with the Lord on Aug. 9, 2024, in Sandpoint, Idaho.
Barbara was born June 20, 1932, in Findlay, Ohio, to parents Lester and Alice Lauck. She was the youngest of four daughters. Growing up she enjoyed baton twirling, swimming, photo collecting, and dancing. She was head majorette and was part of several groups while attending Findlay High School. She graduated in 1950.
Barbara started twirling in the summer of 1940 and became quite the baton twirler in her home state of Ohio. She won 56 medals and six trophies on her way to becoming an 18-year-old Ohio State champion in 1951. Quite the accomplishment back then.
She moved with her son to Denver, Colo., in the early 1960s to marry Wayne Argabrite. The family moved to Littleton and then Lakewood, Colo. Barbara was an administrative assistant for both the Great Western Sugar Company (Denver), and the Jefferson County School District until they moved to Morgan Hill, Calif. In California, she continued working for CSD in Morgan Hill until her retirement in 1996.
Barbara moved to Sandpoint in 2005 to be close to family. She enjoyed being “lazy” and “not doing much,” “on the computer,” and doing “Facebook.” She loved her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. Visits from them always made her day. Barbara kept in touch via Facebook with many of her friends and family from throughout her life. She had many neighbors who kept an eye out for her over the years and helped her out when needed.
Barbara is survived by her son, Phil Argabrite (Aimee); grandson Ryan Argabrite (Nicole); granddaughter Lisa Cameron (Jeremy); granddaughter Michelle Patlan (Fred); grandson Chris Widdig (Lara); grandson Jason Mendoza, and 21 great-grandchildren. Barb is also survived by several nieces and nephews who live in Ohio and Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Argabrite; her parents, Alice and Lester Lauck; and sisters Doris, Jeannette and Ruth.
Special thanks to all of her caregivers for the kindness, and care that Barb/Mom/Grandma/Great-Grandma/Aunt received from all of you. Our family is truly grateful for you all.
She will definitely leave a giant gap in all of our lives! Missing her is not easy.
