PREP CROSS COUNTRY: Kent, Budensiek pick up wins at Post Falls River Run

POST FALLS — Sandpoint High’s Paul Kent won the junior division, Kai Budensiek won the freshman division, and the Bulldogs looked impressive in their season-opening meet held Saturday at Kiwanis Park.

Kent finished the two-mile course in 10 minutes and 45 seconds, roughly 20 seconds ahead of the second place finisher in his race. In the freshman race, Budensiek finished first in 11 minutes and 47 seconds while fellow Bulldog Wyatt Lemon took home second in 11 minutes and 48 seconds.

Sandpoint's Jack Lovin was fourth in the sophomore race in 11 minutes and 27 seconds. In the senior race, Priest River’s Brayden Lamanna was second in 11 minutes and two seconds.

On the girls side, the race was split up into two divisions, freshman and sophomores and juniors and seniors. In the freshman/sophomore race, sophomore Elizabeth Storms placed 11th (14:57) while sophomore Abby Eldore finished right behind her in 12th (14:58). Freshman Katelyn Duke was 15th (15:09), Sienna Szabo 16th (15:18) and sophomore Sienna Todd-Murray 17th (15:22) to round out the Lady Bulldogs’ top finishers on the day.

Sandpoint and Priest River will both return to action on Friday at the Libby Cross Country Invitational.
