PREP VOLLEYBALL: Priest River rallies past Timberlake in opener

PRIEST RIVER — Priest River High junior Jayda Storro had a team-high seven aces and 27 assists and the Lady Spartans rallied past the 4A Timberlake Tigers 3-1 (17-25, 25-21, 25-19, 25-19) on Tuesday.

“Our girls took a loss in the first match and turned the game around,” head coach Katlyn Ward said. “Very proud of these hard working girls.”

Senior Desi Humprhey had 15 kills, junior Aleigha Jensen three blocks, and junior Toni Marinello 20 digs, all team-highs, in the victory. It is the Lady Spartans’ first win over Timberlake since the 2020 season.

Priest River (1-0) hosts St. Maries on Thursday.

Lane, Scarlett off to strong start despite Wampus Cat loss

Lakeside 3, Clark Fork 0

PLUMMER — Junior Aurora Lane had a team-high four aces and 11 assists as the Lady Cats fell to Lady Knights 3-0 (13-25, 12-25, 16-25) in a 2A Scenic Idaho Conference matchup held at Lakeside High on Tuesday.

“Lakeside served tough, and our serve receive reflected it,” head coach Lyndsie Kiebert-Carey. “We had a hard time getting in system, but there were also some huge positives from the night, like working the kinks out of a new rotation and seeing this new team really maintain their cool and support one another.”

Junior Piper Scarlett added five kills, sophomore Nora-Jean Hoy four kills, four assists and two aces in the loss.

“We built momentum in that third set and I was able to see the scrappy, aggressive team I know from practice,” coach Kiebert-Carey said. “We have a solid base upon which to build our season.”

Clark Fork (0-1) travels to Timberlake on Thursday.
