Comments sought on Avista cost adjustment application
Public comment is being sought on Avista Utilities' power cost adjustment application for its electric service.
Avista is proposing a rate adjustment of 0.205 cents per kilowatt-hour. If approved, about $6.6 million would be rebated to customers starting Oct. 1.
Avista officials said the rebate stems from lower-than-expected power supply costs due to reduced wholesale electric and natural gas prices.
Power cost adjustments are used to track changes in revenues and costs associated with variations in hydroelectric generation, secondary prices, thermal fuel costs, and changes in power contract revenues and expenses.
If the Idaho Public Utilities Commission approves the request, about $6.6 million would be rebated to customers effective Oct. 1. Avista officials said the rebate is a result of lower power supply costs than those included in retail rates, due to lower wholesale electric and natural gas prices.
The commission is accepting written comments until Sept. 11. Comments can be submitted through the commission's website at puc.idaho.gov or by email. If computer access is not available, comments can be mailed to the commission and Avista at the addresses listed below.
