PONDERAY — The Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce joined owner Julia Kern and her team at the Rusty Trunk to celebrate the store’s first anniversary.

Located at 875 Kootenai Cutoff Road in Ponderay, the store is planning a weeklong celebration beginning on Monday, Sept. 2.

The Rusty Trunk is akin to a time capsule where antique enthusiasts and curious wanderers can lose themselves in a world of vintage wonders.

Situated in a former veterinary clinic, the spot has character, Kern and her team said. They compared it to the attic of an eccentric great-aunt — full of nooks and crannies waiting to reveal their secrets.

“There truly are treasures to be found around every corner,” the team said in a press release detailing plans for the anniversary celebration. “There are antiques, upcycled furniture, lush plants, and even twinkling Christmas decorations. It’s an eclectic mix that caters to every taste.”

Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce officials join representatives from The Rusty Trunk at a ribbon-cutting event. A week of activities and bargains to commemorate the store's first anniversary will begin Monday, Sept. 2.
