HOME AND FAMILY MONTH 

Mayor Lester Brown signed a proclamation designating the period of Thanksgiving to Christmas as Home and Family Month. Present for the signing were members of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 589 — Ted Gordon, president; Mrs. Josephine Tibbetts, president of the auxiliary; and Mrs. Chet Howell, Sr.

COUNTY AWARD MEDALS EARNED

County Award medals in automotive were received by Randy Bosch, Doug Moore and Shawna Smiley, of Blanchard Western Ranchers, at their 4-H achievement program.

FAMILY LIVING WEEK PROCLAIMED

Gov. Cecil D. Andrus signed a proclamation designating Nov. 24-30 Family Living and Home Life Week, honoring the Idaho Federation of Women’s Clubs, which has been in existence since 1892. IFWC, of which the Sandpoint Civic Club is an affiliate, sponsors programs involving family living and home life, including the youth as well as adults.

Dec. 3, 1949 — THREE STUDENTS AT I.S.C.

Three Sandpoint area students are among the 1695 enrolled at Idaho State college at Pocatello. Marvin D. Selle of Sandpoint is a junior majoring in accounting, John T. Dunn of Kootenai is a junior in the college of pharmacy, and Arthur A. Randall of Sagle is a junior majoring in professional pharmacy.

WET DAY; GOOD FISHING

Saturday’s rain and heavy blow discouraged less hardy souls, but Homer Dooley and Frank Ferraro took to the lake to try their fishing luck, which proved to be excellent. They returned wet but happy, with 11 fine, large cutthroat trout.

CITY IN BRIEF

Large white swan are settling in flocks on the lake near the long wagon bridge.

First harbinger of Christmas is a little green tree anchored in the sidewalk before Larson’s Clothing. 

Mrs. H.H. McCrum and daughter, Miss Dorothy McCrum, motored to Clarkston, spending the week end with Mr. and Mrs. Verla Branson. Mrs. Branson is another McCrum daughter.

WOMEN DIVIDE FINAL FOOTBALL PRIZE

Mrs. Maxine Levering and Mrs. Ray Hilding beat all other football prognosticators last week with 16 winners each, dividing the $10 Pigskin Picks weekly prize. Runnersup were C.E. Glick, Severt Erickson, Mary M. Staples, Ray Hilding and E.P. Melvin. Grand prize winners will be announced next week.
