Ethel Janet Carter, 84, passed away Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024, in Sandpoint, Idaho.
Service will be at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1715 N. Boyer Ave., Sandpoint, Idaho, at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7. If you are unable to participate in person you may watch the service via Zoom. Meeting ID 853-5000-7622 passcode 692260
Ethel was born Oct. 22, 1940, to Luther Church Sr. and Frances Church (McNutt)-Stockdale on the Sunnyside dairy farm of her grandparents, Alva and Opal McNutt.
She spent most of her life working and raising her family in Sandpoint. She had a lifelong love of animals and spent many years raising silver Persian cats for pets and show. Some of her cats were sold around the globe and appeared on television commercials. She was a talented seamstress, making and repairing clothes and collectible bear, rabbit and girl dolls. She embraced the Jehovah’s Witnesses and was baptized in April 1980. She was an active member of AA and was sober for 43 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and last husband, Theodore Ira Carter.
She is survived by four children, Kathleen Strandy, Teresa Snyder-Verhoeff, Scott (Linda) Sams and Bil (Sheila) Sams; two brothers, Melvin (Mary) Church and Luther (Lorrie) Church Jr.; as well as a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
