Sandpoint 40, Moscow 32
MOSCOW — In a grinder at the Bear Den, the Lady Bulldogs, led by two third quarter 3-pointers from senior Chloe Laybourne, improved their winning streak to three games after defeating the Lady Bears 40-32 in their 5A Inland Empire League opener on Tuesday.
"They did a good job of hurrying us up early on and we were struggling to get into our offense," Sandpoint High head coach Will Love said. "After halftime, it was back-and-forth before Chloe hit two 3-pointers that really got us going."
Moscow eventually clawed their way back into the contest, leading 31-30 in the fourth, but the Lady Bulldogs closed out the game on a 10-1 run to seal the deal.
"Jordyn (Tomco) did a good job of attacking Moscow's defense near the end of the game," coach Love said. "She had some big drives that helped us pull away at the very end. I think ultimately is was a huge learning experience for us... this group is new and it's never easy to play at Moscow."
Sophomores Livia Driggs and Jordyn Tomco had six points, senior Demi Driggs five for Sandpoint (3-0), which travels to Timberlake on Thursday.
