| December 7, 2024 1:00 AM

William L. Smith, 76, passed away Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024, at his home in Sagle, Idaho.

Bill was born Oct. 7, 1948, in Santa Cruz, Calif., the son of Gene and Bettye Turner. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1966 serving in Vietnam on riverboats. Returning home from the military he would go to work for Albertsons grocery store working in produce. He would retire in 2003, after 34 years with the company, and move to Sagle, Idaho, where he would spend the rest of his time.

Bill was a man of many talents. He was loved by family and friends. He loved animals of all types, domestic and exotic. His favorite things were riding his horse, hiking with his shepherd, Cash, spending time on his property, shooting his bow and just enjoying the beauty around him.

His wife, Gloria, says it best, “He was my hero, my protector, my best friend and the love of my life. My greatest honor was to be hugged and loved by you. We would have liked to have you with us longer but God had other plans.”

Bill is survived by his wife of 48 years, Gloria; two sisters, Sue (Sid) and Tanya (Mark); along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to sign Bill’s online guest book at coffeltfuneral.com.

Arrangements are under the care of Coffelt Funeral Service.
