Dec. 8, 1974 – FALLS SPORTS BANQUET
Senior Paul Klatt walked off with most of the awards at the annual SHS Fall Sports Banquet. Klatt received the Hunt award, for the most inspirational player and voted on by the entire varsity football team, the Jim Verwolf Award for outstanding senior back, and the academic award for the highest scholastic average. In addition, Klatt was named co-captain of the 1974 football squad, sharing honors with Dan Farmin. The Jerry Kramer award, given yearly to the outstanding lineman, was won by big Mike Hagadone, leading receiver on this year’s Bulldog squad. On the distaff side, Cindy Vig was named permanent captain of the girls’ volleyball squad, and was cited by coach Pat Smith as the outstanding sophomore on the team. Most valuable player honors went to Pam Bradetich, a mainstay on this year’s team that ran up a five and seven record.

SPROUSE-REITZ NEW HOURS
Sprouse Reitz variety store, 100 Cedar St., will have extra Christmas shopping hours, said manager Terry Park. The store will be open Sundays before Christmas from noon to 5 p.m., besides Friday nights and through the week before Christmas as proposed by the Sandpoint Retail merchants.

ROCKY MOUNTAIN ROVERS ELECT
The Rocky Mountain Rovers 4-H Club recently elected officers: Linda Palmen, president; Tammy Howell, v-p; Carol Klippstein, secretary; Sandra Dingman, treasurer; Carol Gaston, reporter; Mark Murray, historian; and Paula Palmen, song leader.

Dec. 8, 1949 – SNOW STILL ON GROUND
Dec. 5 saw Sandpoint’s first snowfall that stayed on the ground this year. The U of I weather station recorded 1.5 inches, compared to 12.3 inches on the ground last year at this time. The high country had a mid-October snowfall, but Indian summer weather prevailed until recently. Temperatures dropped steadily the first of the week, with a low of 21 above on Wednesday morning.

WYOMING COUPLE BUY SAGLE AREA FARM
Indian summer in Bonner county was so inviting that Mr. and Mrs. C.L. Fletcher of Yoder, Wyo. could not forget it. Returning a second time, they closed a deal Friday for the former Prichard ranch at Sagle. Mr. Fletcher has been cattle and wheat ranching in Wyoming for a number of years. He plans to make extensive improvements on his new property.

ROBT. NORDBY AT YOKOHAMA
Cpl. Robert D. Nordby, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Nordby, Dover, is a finance clerk with the 179th finance disbursing section with the Eighth Army in Yokohama, Japan’s major port city. Cpl. Nordby’s unit is responsible for paying all military personnel and dept. of the army civilians in the Yokohama area. He arrived in Japan in January, having served with the 231st finance disbursing section in Korea.
