Dec. 12, 1974 – XMAS TREE ATOP PENNEY’S
After some doing, the Chamber of Commerce Christmas tree was finally secured on the roof of J.C. Penney’s on Monday. The tree, a beautiful 16 foot Engleman Spruce, was donated by Mr. Frank Finney and transported to the site by the Pack River Co. Ed Nettleton chain-sawed a good stump on the bottom and balanced boards were secured. A decorating committee, led by Helen Whittaker, dressed the tree with decorations made by SHS students, and the PP & L boys hoisted the tree up to the roof. Now, how will they get it down?
