PREP ROUNDUP: McCracken's 25 lifts Priest River girls basketball over Riverside

Priest River 56, Riverside 46

PRIEST RIVER — Senior Lizzie McCracken scored a season-high 25 points and hit five 3-pointers, four in the fourth quarter, as the host Lady Spartans bested the Lady Rams 56-46 in a non-league contest Monday.

McCracken also added five rebounds, three steals and six assists to the stat sheet while senior Desi Humphrey scored 16 points, including two 3-pointers, and contributed five assists and two blocks.

Senior Paityn Yount registered six points, nine rebounds, five assists, seven steals and two blocks, junior Aleigha Jensen seven points and six rebounds for the Lady Spartans, which used a 6-0 run going into halftime and a 8-0 run midway through the fourth quarter to pull away.

Freshman McKinley Burgess-Duquette added two points for Priest River (6-1), which travels to the West Valley Holiday Classic Tournament on Dec. 27 where they'll tip-off against East Valley of Spokane.

Lady Bulldogs hit nine 3s in win

SPOKANE — Sophomore Livia Driggs hit four first-half 3-pointers that set the tone early for the visiting Lady Bulldogs in a 54-31 win over the Lady Eagles in a non-league contest Monday.

Sandpoint, which led 34-17 at halftime and had seven of their season-high nine 3-pointers in the first half, also got a big game from sophomore Brecken Mire, who contributed a game-high 15 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, five steals and three blocks.

"We struggled in the first couple of minutes, but we played with some really good pace," Sandpoint High head coach Will Love said. "We started to really hit some shots in the first quarter and that carried over to the second ... I was really pleased with our defense, which is something we've been emphasizing. Exciting to get back into the win column."

Sophomores Jordyn Tomco and Carly Laybourne each added seven points and combined for three 3-pointers — two from Tomco and one from Laybourne — while junior Jetta Thaete and senior Chloe Laybourne also drained 3s.

Senior Demi Driggs recorded three points, sophomore Jaylah Butler two for Sandpoint (4-2), which will return home Saturday after five away games for a non-league matchup against University High.

SPOKANE — The visiting Bulldogs led 28-21 at halftime, but the Eagles of the Greater Spokane League came back midway through the fourth quarter to take a 49-43 victory Monday.

Kootenai Thunder 65, Spokane Classical 56

SPOKANE VALLEY — Four players reached double-figures for the visiting Thunder in a 65-56 overtime win over the Spokane Classical Christian School on Monday.

Hunter Peterson posted a double-double of 17 points, eight of which came in overtime, and 12 rebounds while also adding three blocks and three steals to the stat sheet.

Dylan Day scored 14 points, Marshall Peters 12, Malachi Duchow 11 and Gavan Miles recorded four points and six steals for the Kootenai Thunder (3-2), which outscored Spokane Classical 12-3 in the final frame and hosts Immaculate Conception Academy tonight in Cocollala.

Tyler, Holman help Bulldogs beat Tigers

Sandpoint 49, Timberlake 24

SANDPOINT — Jorden Tyler (190) and Jackson Holman (285) picked up first round pins and the host Bulldogs won the first six bouts to defeat the visiting Tigers 49-24 at Les Rogers Court on Monday.

Aidan Rork (113) and Ashlei Hawkins (138) picked up wins by major decision and Zak Wood (120) a 17-0 technical fall win for Sandpoint, which piled up four forfeit wins on the night en route to victory in their home and season-opening dual.

Sandpoint travels to Priest River tonight for their second dual of the season.
