Dec. 17, 1974 – ART ASSN. ELECTS
Arbutus Hulquist was elected president of Sandpoint Art Association at the Dec. 5 meeting, with 31 members present. Pearl Powell of Hope was named vice president and Lily Keene, secretary-treasurer. Mrs. Hulquist will also serve as club reporter and Mrs. Powell will also remind members of the meetings. Washington Water Power Co. has donated the use of its auditorium for the group’s meetings. Selma Bair attended the meeting to thank the club for the gift given the Bair family in memory of her mother, Clara Bair. Mrs. Bair was one of the most diligent workers at the Bonner County Fair and in 4-H to inspire more interest in the art exhibits. She was also active in the Legion of Fine Arts. Maxine Moe distributed tubes of oil paint which she had ordered. Mrs. Keene reported that Gene Hayes would like to enroll at least 10 students for eight weeks of classes at $2 per class. Members of the association receive a discount on supplies at The Eclipse and at Wrights Paint Store, which have both been very helpful in securing needed materials.

SUGGEST FARRAGUT FOR AIR ACADEMY
The Chambers of Commerce of Spokane and Sandpoint are both urging the use of the former Farragut naval base site for a proposed federal air force academy. They point out the sizeable land area which is still available and the many installations, such as sewage disposal, water and electric systems, that are already there.
