PREP BASKETBALL: Thompson, Rupp help Clark Fork girls hold off Kootenai
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Clark Fork 48, Kootenai 38
CLARK FORK — Senior Hannah Thompson notched a double-double of 29 points and 10 rebounds, junior Kathi Rupp hauled in 18 boards, and the host Lady Cats held off a late Lady Warriors rally to capture a 48-38 non-league victory Thursday.
"Hannah really led us tonight, not just in scoring, but with effort and energy," Clark Fork High head coach Chris Cavanaugh said. "When they went on a run, she was the one in the huddle trying to get everyone fired up again."
Rupp, who added six points and three steals in addition to her 18 rebounds, kept the pressure on Kootenai every possession.
"Kathi is really really tough on the rebounds," Cavanaugh said. "Once she gets more comfortable offensively, she's going to be a real force to deal with."
Thompson also had five steals and three assists, freshman Keira Gannon seven points and four steals for the Lady Cats, which used a 32-11 scoring advantage in the middle two quarters to pull way.
Freshman Brooklyn Charles had a double-double of 17 points and 15 rebounds for Kootenai, which made things interesting with a 19-2 run the fourth quarter.
Junior Piper Scarlett had three points and three assists, junior Priscilla Mayorga two points and seven rebounds for Clark Fork (3-6), which travels to Mullan on Jan. 7.
