ALL-STATE FOOTBALL: Staudt named to 3A Second Team
PRIEST RIVER — Sawyer Staudt, who made a return to football for his senior season after not playing since eighth grade, recently received 3A All-State Second Team honors for his efforts as the Spartans primary running back.
Staudt set multiple Priest River school records this season. He broke the all-time season rushing record set back in 2012 by Cameron Riley (1,139 yards) with 1,145 rushing yards and broke the all-time rushing touchdown record of 19 set by Zack Mack in 2000 by reaching paydirt via the run 22 times in 2024. Priest River also broke the all-time points record for a single season with 288, four more than the 2012 record. Staudt, who was the only football player from Bonner County to be named to an All-State team, accounted for 168 of those points, posting 24 total touchdowns and 12 two-point conversions.
Combined with his 12 catches and 137 receiving yards, Staudt had 1,282 yards from scrimmage this season and put up 142.4 yards per game. His 24 total touchdowns topped Idaho's 3A classification and were ranked No. 4 in the state across all classifications. He accounted for roughly 45 percent of Priest River's offensive output per game.
