PREP ROUNDUP: Priest River girls secure crucial win over St. Maries

Priest River 41, St. Maries 34

PRIEST RIVER — Desi Humphrey led Priest River with 11 points and seven rebounds as the Spartans took down St. Maries in 2A Central Idaho play at Priest River Lamanna High Thursday night. 

Aleigha Jensen, who had nine points for Priest River, converted a three-point play assisted by Helena White at the end of the third quarter to extend the Spartans lead to five. In the fourth, the Spartans took care of business with some clutch baskets, specifically a three-pointer by Marley Burgess-Duquette (assisted by Lizzie McCracken) which extended the lead to six.

White also added nine points and nine rebounds; Pavin Coleman had four points, five rebounds, and four assists for Priest River.

The win helped Priest River secure the No. 3 seed in this year’s 2A CIL District Tournament.

Priest River (10-6, 3-4) will close out the regular season at Grangeville Saturday.

Wampus Cats clinch NSL title, thrash Warriors

HARRISON — Clark Fork put four players into double-figures en route to clinching the North Star League title with the win over the Warriors at Kootenai High Thursday night.

Owen Howard led the way with 17 points, five rebounds and two blocks. Cole Sanroman scored 13 and added seven assists and four steals. Ethan Howard and Seth Caven both scored 10 each; Ethan also contributed six assists.

Clark Fork (8-3, 3-0) will play Lakeside on the road Saturday.

Mathews sinks four 3’s in win over Genesis Prep

POST FALLS — Priest River outscored Genesis Prep 31-15 in the middle two quarters to defeat the Jaguars at The Courts at Real Life Thursday night.

Sophomore Lucas Mathews made four 3-pointers, three in the third quarter, and scored 14 points to lead the way. Ian Lamanna added 13 points, Carter Korff nine, for the Spartans.

Priest River (4-11, 1-5) will travel to Grangeville on Saturday.
